English Jubilee Orpingtons
We no longer have Jubilee Orpingtons, but are leaving this up at the moment for those who have some of our offspring to use as a reference.
Jubilee Orpingtons Chickens are a beautiful imported color of everyone's favorite chickens, the sweet and personable, Orpingtons. The color is stated to have been introduced in 1897 by the William Cook family, Jubilee Orpingtons were named for and presented to Queen Victoria in honor of her Diamond Jubilee year, and she was understandably quite taken with the lovely creatures. Jubilee Orpingtons became a symbol of British spirit that they were ordered to be killed by Hitler during World War II. They have a deep Mahogany colored body with ruby, emerald, and white flecks.
Like all Orpington Chickens, the Jubilees make great pets due to their calm and friendly disposition. They are also great layers of cream-brown colored eggs. They are round and fluffy in appearance, are clean legged, and have a single comb. Hens are also broody and make great mothers.
Average mature weight: roosters 8 1/2 lbs., hens 7 1/2lbs
